UML is not helping the govt, PM complains

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has again expressed his dissatisfaction over "lack of strong support" from his own party CPN (UML) to the coalition government.

Inaugurating the general assembly of the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs in Dhangadi on Friday, PM Nepal said that Maoists have been the obstacle to constitution writing and peace process.

He said Unified CPN (Maoist) as the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) will be responsible if the constitution is not drafted within the stipulated time. In another context, PM Nepal stressed the need for early integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants. The government spends around Rs 2 billion for combatants annually.

The Maoist cadres had called a transport strike in the district headquarters to disturb the PM's programme. The Maoist cadres clashed with police when police tried to stop them from attacking the ministers.

In the Maoist-police scuffle at least three persons including a policeman has been injured. The police fired few rounds of tear gas shells to control the situation. Security has been tightened after the incident. nepalnews.com
